In order to implement the requirements of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of The State Council in the Notice on the issuance of Guidelines for the Setting up and Management of makeshift Hospitals (Trial implementation) (Comprehensive Issue of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism No. 22 (2022)), deeply understand the strategic deployment of The State Council for the construction of makeshift hospitals, and explore the formulation of a scientific and perfect construction plan for makeshift hospitals, The Emergency Treatment Equipment Branch of the Chinese Medical Equipment Association held an expert seminar on "Construction of makeshift hospitals" in Beijing on April 6. Zhang Yongli, Vice President of Beijing Medical Doctor Association; Tan Shulin, Senior engineer of Medical Support Technology Institute of Systems Engineering Institute of Military Academy; Zhang Zhiyun, Director of Nursing Department of Beijing Ditan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University; Liu Bing, Deputy Director of Infection Management and Disease Control Department of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University; Ning Tao, Director of Logistics Department of Peking University Cancer Hospital; Doctors of China-Japan Friendship Hospital Zhang Weishuo, deputy director of the Department of Affairs and Deputy director of the Office of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other more than 10 experts attended the meeting.

The seminar was presided over by Wu Jiangang, Vice president and Secretary-General of the Emergency Treatment Equipment Branch of China Medical Equipment Association. Secretary General Wu first introduced the national policy and project background of the construction of shelter hospitals. Yang Jianpeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Emergency Treatment Equipment Branch and general manager of Fosun Beiling (Beijing) Medical Technology Co., LTD., reported the overall solution of modular shelter hospitals. The experts at the meeting evaluated and discussed the construction plan of shelter hospitals from their respective professional fields and practical experience in epidemic prevention and control. The experts reviewed the makeshift hospitals used in Wuhan in response to COVID-19, systematically summarized the construction of makeshift hospitals in China, and held heated discussions on key issues such as functional layout, sensory control process, medical equipment allocation, medical waste treatment, facilities and equipment, information construction, logistics support, and reuse of makeshift hospitals. The design and construction principles of "modularization, standardization and differentiation" are put forward, which lays a good foundation for the construction of makeshift hospitals in the next step.
